Itinerary
6 Days / 5 NightsCochin to Munnar: Scenic Drive & Hill Station Arrival
Morning arrival at Cochin, followed by a scenic drive to Munnar (approx. 130 km, 5 hours). En route, we stop at Valparai, Cheeyappara waterfalls, and vast tea plantations, offering stunning photo opportunities. After checking into the hotel, we head to Rajamala (Eravikulam National Park) to spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr in its natural habitat. We also visit the Tea Museum, which showcases the history of tea cultivation amidst lush tea gardens. Evening is free to explore the local market.
Munnar: Full Day Sightseeing of Hill Station Gems
After breakfast, we embark on a full day of sightseeing in Munnar. Highlights include Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala Dam, Pothamedu View Point, and Blossom Park, each offering unique landscapes and vistas. We also have time for shopping at local spice and tea shops. Overnight stay at the hotel in Munnar.
Munnar to Thekkady: Wildlife Sanctuary & Periyar Lake Cruise
After breakfast, we check out and drive to Thekkady (approx. 100 km, 3 hours), home to the famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Upon arrival, we check into the hotel and later enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on Periyar Lake, where we can spot elephants, deer, and a variety of birds along the shoreline. The cruise offers a unique perspective of the sanctuary's biodiversity. Overnight at Thekkady.
Thekkady: Jeep Safari & Wildlife Exploration
After breakfast, we head out for an exciting jeep safari inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve. This guided tour takes us deep into the forest, increasing our chances of spotting wild elephants, bison, sambar deer, and if lucky, the elusive tiger. The safari also covers scenic viewpoints within the reserve. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the surrounding spice plantations or relax at the hotel. Overnight at Thekkady.
Thekkady to Alleppey: Overnight Houseboat Cruise in Backwaters
After breakfast, we check out and drive to Alleppey (approx. 160 km, 4 hours) to board our deluxe houseboat. Around noon, we begin our cruise through the tranquil backwaters, passing by lush paddy fields, coconut groves, and traditional Kerala villages. The houseboat is fully furnished with comfortable bedrooms, a living area, and a kitchen. All meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are prepared onboard, offering a taste of authentic Keralan cuisine. We spend the night anchored in a serene spot, surrounded by nature.
Alleppey to Cochin: Departure with Local Sightseeing
After breakfast on the houseboat, we disembark and transfer to Cochin. Depending on flight timing, we enjoy a short sightseeing tour of Cochin, visiting the popular Lulu Mall and the historic Cochin Beach. Later, we are dropped off at the airport or railway station for our onward journey.
